Director of Music

Rebecca (Becky) D. Verner, Director of Music, has served on the staff of Manassas Baptist Church for nearly twenty-six years.   A native of Manassas, she is a graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in Music Education and has done graduate work at Shenandoah University towards a masters degree in Church Music.

At Manassas Baptist, Becky directs the fifty-five voice Sanctuary Choir and the Young Musicians Choir (grades 5-6), leads the Evensong Bells and Revelation Ringers, coordinates the six children’s choirs, works with soloists and worship planning and supervises the church’s seventeen singing and ringing choirs!  She enjoys working with a variety of age groups and is excited about the church’s ministries and growth.  She works with other church musicians to plan ecumenical music events and to have concerts by visiting choirs and musicians.

Becky is also involved in a number of musical organizations at the local, regional and state levels.  She is a past Dean of the Northern Virginia chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and serves as the current Tri-Chapter Coordinator of the three metropolitan chapters of the Guild.  She is the President of the Manassas Community Concert Association, which brings professional touring artists to our area several times each year.  In addition, she directs the Manassas Community Chorale, a group of sixty singers who present four concerts a year and rehearse on Tuesday evenings at Manassas Baptist.  Becky has served on several state committees for Virginia Baptists and is a State Music Specialist who has conducted workshops at the regional and state level.  She also maintains a private studio of piano, organ and voice students.
